Health and Fitness
Health and fitness are important so you can stay fit and avoid getting sick. People should get 30 minutes of exercise every day. Some types of exercise include swimming and jogging. You should get 8 hours of sleep on a daily basis. The sections of the food pyramid are fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, protein, and fats and sweets.

About NIH
The NIH stands for the National Institutes of Health. The history of the NIH dates back to the 1800s and 1900s. On May 26, 1930, the Hygenic Laboratory was redesignated as the National Institute of Health; on June 16, 1948, the National Institute of Health was renamed the National Institutes of Health. The NIH's goal is to ensure people stay healthy by seeking fundamental knowledge and using that knowledge. The NIH has exactly 28 institutes.

Feelings
I feel a little disappointed about leaving Project SEARCH. I am going to miss coming to the Clinical Center. I am going to miss Mr. Carter and Patina. My classmates describe me as hard-working, very cool, serious, and friendly.

Take a Hike
We went to the annual 'NIH Take a Hike' event. We took a nice long walk around the NIH campus, along Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown road. The whole Project SEARCH team and all the NIH staff attended the event. I really enjoyed the walk; it gave me a rest from my usual, every-day schedule, I usually go to the gym on Tuesday and Thursday nights, but I won't need to go tonight after this long walk.

Project SEARCH Ending
I feel a little disappointed that Project SEARCH is coming to an end. I got to learn what being in the workforce is like. A few things I've enjoyed in Project SEARCH are getting to use Excel for various things, receiving and recording NIH invoices, and researching the NIH invoices. I would like to say thank you to my instructor, Mr. Carter, John Burke, Ming, and Patina. Project SEARCH has helped me to gain a sense of independence.

Benefits
Benefits are services or days off that your job pays for. Sick leave is when you have to take time from work because of illness. A personal day is when you take the day off for a personal reason. A paid holiday is a day when people don't normally go to work but still get paid. Examples of paid holidays would be Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Being Independent
To be independent means to be able to do things without help or assistance. Project SEARCH has helped me to become independent by showing me how to do work on my own.

Resume
A resume is a list of your past work skills and experiences. Today, we updated our resumes. I have had 3 internships at NIH, all at the same place, the Center for Information Technology. Project SEARCH has 3 rotations. After I finish Project SEARCH, I will have a resume with new skills and experiences. I feel very good about these new skills and experiences.

Problem Solving
When have you experienced a problem?
I try to call a friend on their home phone or cell phone, but I don't get an answer.
How did you solve this problem?
One solution is call them on their home phone if their cell phone doesn't work, and vice versa, or email them. I think the best solution would be to try emailing them.
What are the steps to solving a problem?
The steps to solving a problem are: 1). What is the problem? 2). What are the solutions? 3). What is the best solution?

Newsletter
The Intern Newsletter is a newsletter that's been thought up by the Project SEARCH interns. We made it by typing information on various subjects. We made it by writing articles, finding pictures, spell checking, picking designs, and using computers. What I liked about making the newsletter is I got to tell people about my time in Special Olympics and what my future contribrutions to the team may be.

Internship #3
My internship is at the Center for Information Technology, just like the first 2 times. The Center for Information Technology is located in Rockledge, Maryland. I work with my supervisor, John Burke and one of my coworkers, Joanne Higgins. I work from 9:50am to 1:50pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 10:10am to 12:10pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At my internship, I research NIH invoices in Excel, so I technically do data entry. I really enjoy doing this kind of work. It's a little disappointing to me that this is the final rotation, because after this rotation, Project SEARCH is over for me.

Self Advocacy
My disability is autism. It makes me feel angry, and I do almost anything to deny it. Self Advocacy means to speak up for yourself, your wants and needs. As a child, your parents advocate for you. In Project SEARCH, your job coach and instructor advocate for you, but after Project SEARCH, you will advocate for yourself. I can advocate for myself by stating what I need help with. Self Advocacy is important because once you get to adulthood, you're pretty much on your own.

Practice Interview
I watched the video of my practice interview with Mr. Carter. In the video I did a good job making eye contact and smiling. I can do better by having my resume handy. I am interviewing with CIT. My interview is on Monday, March 5th at 10:30am. I will interview with John Burke. My interview is at John's office. I am getting ready for the interview by watching my practice interview video. I should bring my resume, a pen and paper, and my interview prep sheet to the interview.

Steps to Success
The first step to success in life is deciding what you want. The second step is figuring out how to get what you want. Steps to take to reach goals in life are to work hard, don't give up, be efficient, ask for assistance if needed.

PowerPoint Presentation
I will have to give a presentation of February 23, 2012. We are getting ready for our presentations by practicing, because practice makes perfect. One person who gave a presentation that I enjoyed was Sasha Butler. Sasha's internship is at the OHR (Office of Human Resources) at Executive Plaza. Some tasks that Sasha does there are set up classrooms, deliver mail, and file documents. One thing Sasha does well is speak clearly. One thing Sasha could do better is speak a little louder.

Resume
A resume is a list of your previous workplace skills and experiences. You need a resume so your new employer(s) can see your previous job records. A reference is someone who isn't in your family or a friend. This week, I revised my resume with simple word changes, and updated it. My first internship was at the Center for Information Technology in Rockledge, Maryland. Some tasks I did there were filing invoices for NIH institutes. My second internship was also at the Center for Information Technology in Rockledge, Maryland. Some tasks I did there were filling in missing information for the accounts of all the institutes I did invoices for.

Earning Pay
Two ways that we used a timesheet are to calculate hours worked and how much money we earned. We used a timesheet on paper, and another timesheet electronically. An hourly wage is how much money you make an hour. A salary is how much money you make in a year. Gross pay is the amount of money you have before deductions. Net pay is the amount of money you've got after deductions. One type of deduction would be taxes. A budget is a plan for using money. A need is something that you really require. A want is something that you would like to have.

Time Sheet
Money Management is how you manage money to take care of responsibilities. A time sheet is how you calculate hours worked. We complete time sheets to know how many hours we work in a week. I work 6 hours a day. 6 hours a day times five days a week equals 30 hours a week. I worked for up to 60 hours on my time sheet.
"Time Worked equals money earned"

Money Management
Financial Literacy is how you manage money (paying bills and taking care of responsibilities). Financial Literacy is important because you want to take care of your duties. A timesheet is a sheet you fill out when you come to or leave work. A check is a way to deposit or deduct money. A deposit is a way to put money in the bank. A withdrawal is when you take money out of the bank. A debit card is a card that uses any money that you have in the bank. A credit card is a card that adds up money into a bill that you pay to the bank.
