Newsletter

The Intern Newsletter is a newsletter that's been thought up by the Project SEARCH interns. We made it by typing information on various subjects. We made it by writing articles, finding pictures, spell checking, picking designs, and using computers. What I liked about making the newsletter is I got to tell people about my time in Special Olympics and what my future contribrutions to the team may be.

Internship #3

My internship is at the Center for Information Technology, just like the first 2 times. The Center for Information Technology is located in Rockledge, Maryland. I work with my supervisor, John Burke and one of my coworkers, Joanne Higgins. I work from 9:50am to 1:50pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 10:10am to 12:10pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At my internship, I research NIH invoices in Excel, so I technically do data entry. I really enjoy doing this kind of work. It's a little disappointing to me that this is the final rotation, because after this rotation, Project SEARCH is over for me.        

Self Advocacy

My disability is autism. It makes me feel angry, and I do almost anything to deny it. Self Advocacy means to speak up for yourself, your wants and needs. As a child, your parents advocate for you. In Project SEARCH, your job coach and instructor advocate for you, but after Project SEARCH, you will advocate for yourself. I can advocate for myself by stating what I need help with. Self Advocacy is important because once you get to adulthood, you're pretty much on your own.

Practice Interview

I watched the video of my practice interview with Mr. Carter. In the video I did a good job making eye contact and smiling. I can do better by having my resume handy. I am interviewing with CIT. My interview is on Monday, March 5th at 10:30am. I will interview with John Burke. My interview is at John's office. I am getting ready for the interview by watching my practice interview video. I should bring my resume, a pen and paper, and my interview prep sheet to the interview.
